choosing the right surgeon

What to look for and what to ask
Working with the right plastic surgeon is critical to achieving your desired outcome. With the growing demand for these services, many physicians perform cosmetic surgery. We recommend you consider providers who are Board Certified in Plastic Surgery and members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).

Members of ASPS must meet rigorous standards and have proven expertise in plastic surgery procedures, both cosmetic and reconstructive.

You’ll also want to make sure your surgeon operates only in accredited medical facilities, and has fulfilled all his continuing medical education requirements, including standards and innovations in patient safety. Finally, members of the ASPS adhere to a strict code of ethics. A good physician should never promise specific outcomes, pressure you into additional surgeries, fail to inform you of risks, or rush you into making a decision.
